Submissions should describe original work that is not under peer review or has been accepted for a publication elsewhere (including conference and journal) before the MICCAI conference in September 2017. Authors are allowed to submit a novel research manuscript that has been archived for future dissemination (e.g. on the arXiv platform). Understanding how the reviewers are expected to evaluate your paper might help you in writing the paper and presenting the results. Therefore, you are strongly encouraged read the reviewer guidelines.

 

Submission Format

​

• Papers should be formatted in Lecture Notes in Computer Science style. Latex style files can be found on the Springer website, which also contains Office Word instructions (scroll to the bottom half of the web page). The file format for submissions is Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF). Other formats will not be accepted. Please check the PDF document properties tab to confirm that the author field does not break anonymity.
  
  Please note that this year, it is possible to embed a movie in your submission. This can be a very powerful new feature to illustrate your results and convey your contributions. Advice on including embedded videos in LNCS papers is provided at point 4.8 of the LNCS Volume Editors Guidelines. See details at the end of this document. 
   

• The maximum number of pages is 8. Submissions exceeding this limit will be rejected without review.

• You should not modify any of the formatting commands in the style files. Any modifications found may result in automatic rejection.

• The review process is double blind. Submissions are to be fully anonymized
  (see the guidelines for anonymity below).

 

Anonymity

​

Failure to comply with the anonymity requirements below will result in automatic rejection of the paper.

• Remove author and institutional information from the author list on the title page. Please replace this information with asterisks and do not delete the lines completely. If you remove the blank lines, then your paper may be regarded as violating the 8 page limit.

• Remove author information from all paper headings.

• Remove clues from the main text that would directly identify any of the authors, such as an acknowledgment section or names of your collaborating partners (hospital, company...).

• Your own published work (including online publications) must be cited in the third person, in a manner that is not traceable to the identity of the authors. For example: "In [5], Hello and Goodbye have proposed ..." is acceptable, whereas "In [5], we have proposed ..." is not.

• Your own work that is in press or accepted for publication and thus not available for the reviewers should be listed as "Anonymous" (with no other information) in the bibliography. For example: "In [5], Muller and Doe have proposed ..." is not acceptable. One should use an anonymous formulation such: “In [5], authors have proposed … “. In the references, simply list [5] Anonymous.

• Anonymize your PDF file. Note that PDF creator programs may accidentally leave author information in the file header.

 

Supplementary Material

• You may also upload supplementary material following the same anonymity rules as described above. The program committee and the reviewers are under no obligation to look at this material. Your manuscript must be self-contained and complete without supplementary material. The supplementary material is solely for aiding the review and it will not be included in the proceedings.

• One allowed use of the supplementary material is to augment the "Closest works" section in the paper submission page, by providing reprints of manuscripts that are not readily available to the reviewers, such as your own pending papers referenced as Anonymous in the manuscript (your own reprints should be anonymized). You could use these reprints to explain the extent of overlap between your manuscript and other publications. Do not attach preambles or notes with the reprints.

• Any attempt to abuse the supplementary material, such as trying to circumvent the page limits of the main manuscript, will lead to automatic rejection without further review.

• Anonymity rules above apply to supplementary material.

 

Author List

​

To make any additions to the author list (which you enter on the submission form) after the submission deadline (particularly during the camera-ready stage), you will need to get the permission of the program chairs by emailing program@miccai2017.org. Note that this does not apply to author deletions or order changes.

 

Ethics

​

If needed, a statement regarding subject consent and REB (Research Ethics Board) approval should be included in the paper.

 

Declaration of conflict or commercial interest

​

All papers should declare any conflict or commercial interest.

Embedding a video

​

Embedded Videos in Proceedings Springer now offers authors the option of including embedded videos in their papers and we would encourage you to make authors aware of this. The technical requirements are as follows: a resolution of 16:9 or 4:3, a maximum file size of 25 GB, and a minimum duration of 1 second. The following formats are supported: avi, wmv, mp4, mov, m2p, mp2, mpg, mpeg, flv, mxf, mts, m4v, and 3gp. Authors must not violate privacy and confidentiality rules and, as always, permission must be sought for use of third-party content. All types of Electronic Supplementary Material, including videos, should be sent with the authors’ files. If videos are to be embedded, unequivocal instructions as to their positioning must be included.
